FALMOUTH, Ky. (AP) -- A 21-year-old part-time volleyball coach with a northern Kentucky school district has been arrested after accusations of a sexual relationship with a student.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports that police arrested 21-year-old Cassandra Rose Elfers on Friday and charged her with sex abuse.
School Superintendent Anthony Strong says district officials became aware of rumors last week and took immediate action to contact police and assure the coach had no more contact with the student.
Strong said the district is "fully cooperating" with police, but declined further comment.
The newspaper reports Elfers could have an initial appearance in Pendleton District Court as soon as Tuesday. It was unclear whether she had an attorney.
