Good for You Baked Ziti!
Serves 6-8
½ lb. Ziti Pasta
1-15 oz. pkg. Kroger Low Fat Ricotta
2 Tbl. Wholesome @ Home Basil Pesto (in Deli)
1 lb. Laura's 92% Lean Ground Beef
½ Sweet Yellow Onion (sliced thin)
½ Green Bell Pepper (slice thin)
3 links Johnsonville 50% less fat Chicken Sausage 3 Cheese Italian Style (sliced)
1-24 oz. jar Kroger Private Selection Arrabiatta sauce (spicy marinara)
2 cups Kroger Part-Skim Shredded Mozzarella
Preheat oven to 350 degrees & spray a 9"X13" baking dish lightly with pan release.
Bring a large pot of water with ½ tablespoon of salt to a boil. Stir in pasta & cook 8-10 minutes (until desired consistency). Either drain the pasta & build the dish immediately or rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process to bake the dish the following day.
In a large bowl, mix together the pasta, ricotta, & basil pesto until combined well.
In a large sauté pan, start to brown ground beef then add in onion & green bell pepper. Continue to brown off ground beef & cook vegetables until almost tender.
Add in sliced chicken sausage & Arrabiatta tomato sauce. Let simmer about 5 minutes.
Spread half of the pasta mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the meat mixture over top of the pasta mixture. Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella on top. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
Bake dish for 40-50 minutes. The top should be browned & bubbly. Great served hot with some Kroger Crusty French bread & a tossed salad.
