LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An off-duty Kentucky state trooper has died in a crash on Interstate 64, near Winchester, Ky.

It's about 100 miles east of Louisville.

State police say Trooper Anson Blake Tribby, age 25, assigned to the Morehead post, died after the crash, about 7 p.m. Tuesday at the 99 mile marker.

Tpr. Tribby was driving his personally-owned pickup truck in the eastbound lanes. A wrecker was also involved in the crash, state police spokesman Tpr. Ron Turley said. There was no immediate word about anyone else involved in the crash, nor details of how it happened.

I-64 remained closed near Winchester late Tuesday. Traffic was being detoured.

A state police news release from May 2012 said Tribby was named his post's "Top Trooper" for 2012 and received the award in an annual ceremony at Frankfort.

The release said Tribby was originally from Maysville, Ky., and graduated Mason County High School in 2005. He later graduated the University of Kentucky in 2009 and completed the state police academy on September 17, 2010.

The citation of his work read as follows: "During 2011, he excelled at Post 8 in self-motivated activity. Trooper Tribby issued 1,328 citations, 134 of which were seat belt violations, made 36 DUI arrests (led Post 8), opened 50 criminal cases, and made 183 criminal arrests. Trooper Tribby has demonstrated on many levels his dedication to the Kentucky State Police and his enthusiasm for his duties. Trooper Tribby's friendly demeanor and professional behavior, both on and off-duty, have quickly earned him respect and an excellent rapport in the community, and supported a positive image for the agency."
