Woman accused of stealing wallets from doctors' offices, hospitals, appears in court

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Five thousand dollars -- that's how much a Louisville woman charged with theft will need to get out of jail.

LaShonda Jefferson faced a judge this morning on accusations that she and her sisters stole wallets from doctors' offices and hospitals.

Police say the group, including Jefferson, would steal the wallets and quickly charge thousands of dollars worth of items on the credit cards.  The thefts date back to November 2012, but police believe there may be many other victims.

Officers are still searching for her five sisters and a family friend.
