LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Kentuckians now have the option of printing an organ donor heart on their driver's license.
When renewing a license, deputy clerks ask all Kentuckians if they'd like to be a registered organ donor. If you say yes, you can have a small blue heart with the words "Organ Donor" on your card.
Jefferson County Circuit Court Clerk David Nicholson received his today: "Every day we have over 900 recipients waiting for an organ or tissue donation. And again, it's just another way of awareness to save a life in the Commonwealth."
About 35 percent of Kentuckians are on the Organ Donor Registry. The national goal is to have 50 percent registered.
