33rd Annual KDF Poster Premiere

Posted: Updated:

The first official Kentucky Derby Festival event for 2013 was the 33rd annual Poster Premiere.

The work of Louisville illustrator and graphic artist Lonnie Walker was selected for this year's poster image. Walker is an award-winning artist with over 30 years experience in the graphic design and advertising field.

His illustrations and designs have appeared across the globe. He's worked with Coca-Cola Worldwide, Papa John's International, The Rose Bowl Parade, ESPN and Brown-Forman Beverages, among many other notable clients. Walker currently owns and operates PrimoGraphics, Inc. an advertising and graphic studio he started in 1999. This is a repeat performance for Walker, who also created the Official Festival Poster in 2000.

In addition to the poster and merchandise, original artwork by local students is also being honored.

Peter Max's expressionistic "Bluegrass Pegasus" launched the series in 1981, and a stylistic and geographical mix of artists have been showcased over the years. The signed collector editions continue to significantly increase in value, and the quality of the Poster Series has been recognized worldwide.
