LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB)-- It is a locally-owned trucking firm that, among many other things, transports U of L's football equipment.
This is a special weekend for Pegasus Transportation Inc. It is celebrating 25 years in business with a big party Saturday evening.
The company's president and his business partner started their tiny company with just six employees. "The exciting part for us is that we have 400 employees today, "says company president Gary Hanke, "That is a lot of families we help support in this community and we are glad to be a part of that."
Hanke says his company started out with just two trucks. Today it operates 235 giant trucks which travel in all 48 states in the continental United States.
Pegasus's biggest client is Ford, his trucks move assembly parts from plant to plant. And they carry the U of L football teams' equipment to its road games.
Pegasus Transportation continues to grow and is always looking for dependable workers.
"Believe it or not," says Hanke, "our biggest challenge is finding good quality drivers in spite of the economic conditions today and the high unemployment, we know that it can be a difficult job and understand the demands of driving on the road but we are a bit surprised that we cannot find enough drivers."
Business remains strong and Pegasus will soon open a second terminal, a new one in South Louisville in addition to its current terminal and office on English Station Road in Eastern Jefferson County.
