LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Zoo is celebrating the birth of a female Hartman's mountain zebra foal for the first time in 13 years.
The birth was early in the morning on January 18. Just 45 minutes later, the baby was taking her first steps, and was nursing two minutes after that. Her mother, named Morena, is also doing well.
The zoo expects to place the foal on exhibit in the coming weeks depending upon the weather, and a naming contest is coming in the spring.
