LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A plea deal is in the works for the daycare owner whose van was involved in a deadly crash. Lavonia Lewars is charged with defrauding the state of Medicaid money and with theft by deception.
She was back in court Monday morning, and a judge set a plea date for next month. Prosecutors wouldn't give details of the plea deal.
Earlier this month, prosecutors chose not to pursue criminal charges in the deadly van crash that killed an adult and injured several children. Lewars, however, is being targeted in civil lawsuits.
