Family denies Muhammad Ali is near death

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- "It's not true," says the family of boxing great Muhammad Ali about rumors that Ali's health is declining and that he is on his deathbed.

The rumors started after an article in a London tabloid which quotes Ali's brother Rahman as saying his brother "is in decline and may be dead within days."

A spokesperson for the family released a statement saying:"Muhammad Ali is doing great.  The reports of his ill health are totally false."

Meanwhile, Christopher 2X with Fight Crimes Against Children talked to Rahman Ali this weekend and says the interview was given during the Olympic Games in London: "And basically at that time he was telling me that he shared some thoughts with a reporter but he believes the reporter misconstrued what he said.  I don't know. I don't even know why the story came up yesterday if it was last summer's story."

A family spokesperson says Ali spent Sunday cheering on the Ravens in their Super Bowl victory.
