Victim identified in Clifton area shooting

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The man killed in a shooting in the 1800 block of Frankfort Avenue on Sunday has been identified.  The coroner's office says 32-year-old Jahmal Lestrade was pronounced dead of several gunshot wounds at 3:28 p.m. Sunday at University of Louisville Hospital.

Another man was also taken to the hospital after the shooting, which happened about 12:30 Sunday afternoon at Crescent Run Apartments in Clifton.  That man was last said to be in stable condition after surgery.

Investigators spent Sunday afternoon questioning neighbors, trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.  "I don't have any indication as to what the motive was or what's behind it but at this homicide detectives say they do not have any suspects," said Carey Klain, LMPD Spokesperson.

People living in the area say it's not often they see much crime around the neighborhood.

"It's a little nerve wrecking seeing stuff like that going on around here -- it's sort of quiet, everyone's nice and you don't expect to see that on a Sunday," said Nick Nevitt, a Clifton resident.

Police ask anyone with information to call 574-LMPD.
