LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Indiana lawmakers want to hear from people on proposals to end the state's long-running ban on selling liquor on Sundays. A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at the Statehouse.
Indiana is currently the last state in the nation to bar retail alcohol sales on Sundays. Supporters of the bills argue that the ban is one of the toughest in the nation and costs the state $9 million in lost tax revenue.
Many package liquor stores argue that the cost of opening on Sundays would make it impossible to compete with big supermarket chains.
