LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- $3.4 million worth of counterfeit 2013 NFL Super Bowl team jerseys were among the items federal agents seized at the UPS hub in Louisville, as well as DHL's hub in Cincinnati.
Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 60,000 counterfeit items between the two locations. William A. Ferrara, CBP Acting Director of Field Operations in Chicago said in a news release, "This counterfeit merchandise hurts consumers by being substandard and it hurts the U.S. economy as well. Also federal investigations have shown that some of these counterfeiting organizations are linked to other criminal enterprises."
CBP says most such goods, about 72 percent of those that are seized, come from China.
