LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A newly-renovated St. Matthews surgery center for children also includes a playroom. Officials on Thursday cut the ribbon dedicating the St. Matthews Pediatric Surgery Center at Norton Suburban Hospital.
The center is part of the first phase of renovations -- all are supposed to be finished in the spring of next year. It includes four operating rooms for outpatient procedures such as ear tubes and tonsils.
Officials say the idea is to provide another option to parents.
Charlotte Ipsan, President of Norton Women's and Kosair Children's Hospital, said, "It's just increasing our access to pediatric care like we do at Kosair Children's Medical Center Brownsboro and Kosair Children's Hospital Downtown, so just bringing all of those services together and providing care right here in St. Matthews that wasn't otherwise available many of these residents."
Hwang's Martial Arts and Greathouse Shryrock Elementary helped pay for the playroom and renovations.
