According to a news release, it happened on Monday at approximately 11 p.m. in the 600 block of Ruggles Place.
Police say two U of L students reported that they were standing outside their apartment when two men wearing ski masks approached them. One of the men was armed with a handgun, according to police.
The suspects took money and personal items from the students, then ran away toward the entrance of the apartment complex.
One of the suspects is described as a black male with dark skin, roughly 6'-0" to 6'-2" in height, weighing roughly 150 lbs. and wearing a black U of L hoodie, blue jeans and a ski mask. Police say he was armed with a black handgun with different color grips.
The second suspect is described as a black male with dark skin, 5'-8" to 6'-0" tall, about 150 lbs., wearing a red hoodie and red sweat pants.
U of L Police and Louisville Metro Police are increasing patrols in the area in response to the reported incident, according to the news release. Students in the area are asked to remain alert for suspicious activity and travel in groups while walking.
