Indiana governor backs Republican party chairman

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana's new governor wants to keep Eric Holcomb chairman of the state's Republican party.

Mike Pence is telling members of the state's GOP to back Holcomb, who's been chairman for two years. He was also an aide to former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels.

Holcomb says he's decided to stay on as chairman, as long as the central GOP committee approves him.

Indiana Democratic Party Chairman Dan Parker is stepping down after eight years in his position.
