INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indianapolis metro police are hunting for an Indianapolis man who might have caused a fatal, head-on crash by ramming his former girlfriend's SUV from behind.
Police say the crash early Sunday near the Castleton Square shopping mall killed 29-year-old Rashshaad Artis of Indianapolis. He was riding in the SUV driven by 33-year-old Shanntel Lewis of Indianapolis when it crossed a median and crashed into another vehicle.
Lewis tells police her ex-boyfriend, 31-year-old Seantel Mardsen of Indianapolis, had rammed her SUV from behind with his pickup several times before the crash.
Witnesses tell police the vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed, cutting each other off and running several red lights.
Police say Lewis and a passenger in the third vehicle, 40-year-old Tara Bain of Indianapolis, also suffered injuries.
