
Romance is in the air, and if you ask Italians, that smell includes garlic. Bernie Pasquantino from Adrienne and Company Cafe and Bakery has easy recipes for gnocchi and cannoli that he says any guy can make.
Like many cooks, Bernie did his best at giving us his recipe. But some of this is subject to taste and personal preference.
Gnocchi
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup whole milk ricotta
1 egg
pinch of salt
Mix ingredients.
Roll into balls.
Roll into a strip and cut gnocchi.
Drop in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until they float.
Tomato Sauce
1 clove garlic
1 small onion
1 large can or 2 small cans of diced tomatoes
1/4 cup red wine
Oregano
Salt
Pepper
Sweat garlic and onions in a small amount of olive oil in a skillet.
Add remaining ingredients.
Cook until combined.
Toss in gnocchi and serve.
Cannoli cream (large recipe!)
2 pounds whole milk ricotta
1 pound marcipone cheese
6 cups powdered sugar
lemon zest
Whip ingredients in a mixer.
Fill a piping bag.
Fill cannoli shells.
Shells can be purchased at supermarkets or at Adrienne & Company.
