LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana resort and casino is looking to fill some slots with people. French Lick Resort Human Resources Manager Steve Johnson said they have many different family friendly amenities and the casino is just one of them. Because of the different options to please the public, he said, they attract a big crowd.
"Our business is driven totally by the number of visits we have such as guests," said Johnson.
Those crowds, especially families, are one of the reasons they are able to make a big announcement with hundreds of possibilities. "We are pretty excited," said Johnson.
Johnson said they will be looking to hire hundreds with a combination of seasonal and full-time openings. Positions at the resort are in the two hotels, various dining areas, different spas, golf courses, and the casino. Johnson said they are looking to hire around 300 people.
"Could be a little more, could be a little less, depends on as we get close to the season," said Johnson, referring to the peak season, which runs from May to Labor Day.
He said business is going pretty well right now, which means they are willing to pay for more help.
"We had a very good January and we are expecting a very good season compared to last year," Johnson said.
Starting pay rates for most of the positions will be in the $8 to $10 range, but some, with a different scale, pay more than just by the hour. "Tips can be very lucrative depending on the positions," said Johnson. "All of our positions do offer some type of benefits."
Even first-time job seekers can check out what's available, with the minimum hiring age of 16. Age is a factor in certain instances. "Some positions in our casino require a gaming license which requires you to be 21 years of age," said Johnson.
He said they cannot wait to meet some new faces. "We are always looking for good people here," said Johnson.
"People who like working with the public and are comfortable working in an environment, working with guests from all around the country in many cases," said Human Resources Manager Steve Johnson.
The resort, located at 8670 West State Road 56 in Orange County, Indiana features 63 holes of golf, two full-service spas, and dining and entertainment options.
