Indiana revokes pharmacy license after meningitis outbreak

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana has revoked the license of a Massachusetts pharmacy linked to a deadly outbreak of fungal meningitis.

The move means the New England Compounding Center cannot operate in the state for at least seven years.

The company can apply for a new license after that, but it would need to be approved by the state pharmacy board.

The CDC has confirmed 10 deaths and dozens of cases of fungal meningitis from tainted steroids that were distributed to a handful of Indiana clinics before the shots were recalled.
