LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A Louisville Boy Scout leader who says he was forced to resign because he is gay is using an online petition to fight back. Greg Bourke wants the United Way to publicly speak out against the Boy Scouts' ban on gay members and leaders.
The United Way is one of the Scouts' major financial supporters.
Bourke's petition on the website www.change.org had more than 44,000 signatures by yesterday afternoon.
United Way officials say local chapters of the organization make the funding decisions.
