LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- People inside a burning home in New Albany were awakened by a fire alarm and got out safely as fire rushed through their home Thursday afternoon.  Firefighters have since put out the blaze.

Earlier, bright flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the two-story home on Cliffwood Court, near Klerner Lane after it was reported at 1:49 in the afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started in the attic of the two-story home.  It was heavily damaged, but not destroyed.  The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
