LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Customers can receive refunds today for gift cards they still have for the now-closed Lynn's Paradise Cafe.
The restaurant abruptly closed last month. The refunds are being given at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Phillips Lane, in the Madison Room. The hotel is outside Gate One at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds. The cards will be fully refunded both Friday and Saturday from 1-7 p.m.
Patty Schnatter, the COO of Lynn's Paradise Cafe, tells WDRB News, "People have to come in with their gift cards in hand and then they'll be directed to one of two tables. And then we can give them their cash back for the amount that's on the balance of the card....We're prepared to handle two thousand people, but I don't really know how many will come."
Schnatter says legally, they do not have to give refunds, but thought it was the right thing to do. She says it's costing the restaurant about $20,000.
As for a possible sale of the restaurant, Schnatter says owner Lynn Winter is "on the fence" about that, but will sell for the right price. That could include any combination of the restaurant, its equipment, the "World of Swirl" store items, and the property itself.
