LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- New signs on Anderson Street between 15th and 17th streets in Louisville honor the Rev. Charles Elliot, Jr.  Anderson Street is the location of the King Solomon Baptist Church, where he has been pastor since 1961.

The street signs read, "The Rev. Charles Elliott Jr. Way."

"Today we honor and thank Rev. Elliot for his tireless dedication to the struggle of civil rights for all people in Louisville and the Commonwealth of Kentucky," said Fourth District Councilman David Tandy.

Rev. Elliott organized the Kentucky Christian Benevolent Association and the Feed the People Program.  He was also instrumental in passing legislation recognizing Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday as a holiday in Kentucky.
