LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Greater Clark County Schools has suspended a bus driver after some students got home much later than usual on Thursday afternoon.
Some of them even got dropped off at the wrong place.
The district says the assistant driver, who had never done the route, was taking children home from Riverside Elementary School.
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Melin says she ended up doing the route in reverse.
"We take this very seriously. It's an issue. Student safety is our top priority. A mistake was made. It's a mistake where we want to make sure it doesn't happen again," says Melin.
Melin says the driver dropped off two students at the wrong location.
A neighbor saw them and called their mother, who took them home.
Melin says the driver will be off the job until an investigation is complete.
He says all drivers are given route information before getting behind the wheel.
