Mourdock won't rule out another run for office

Posted: Updated:

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock says he's recovering mentally and physically from his painful loss to Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly and he no longer is ruling out another run for political office.

He tells the Evansville Courier & Press that he probably would have done just that a few weeks ago. Mourdock lost a narrow race to Donnelly after making comments during an Oct. 23 debate that pregnancy resulting from rape is something "God intended" cost him votes from women.

The 61-year-old Mourdock says he spoke at three GOP Lincoln Day dinners last week and has three more planned this week. Mourdock says he is ready to move past his crushing defeat.

Mourdock has two years left in his term as treasurer.
