U of L buys old Chevron property to provide more parking

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- The University of Louisville Foundation has bought an old Chevron property near campus to provide more student parking.

The cost was $1 million.  The university is in the process of tearing down all the buildings on the site except for one.

The university believes the site used to be an oil distribution center back in the 1880s.  The site is behind Bettie Johnson Hall, northwest of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

73 student parking spots are expected to open up tomorrow, with 600 available by the fall.
