LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say one person was struck and killed while crossing Dixie Highway in southwest Louisville Monday night.
53-year-old Louis H. Carlisle of Louisville died the day before his 54th birthday. He was pronounced dead of his injuries at 5:29 p.m. on Tuesday.
The southbound lanes on Dixie Highway near Watson Lane were closed for the police investigation.
Police at the scene said the pedestrian who died was wearing dark clothing. It also was raining at the time of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle will likely not be charged in the accident, police said.
LMPD's Dwight Mitchell said people should wear bright clothing and pay close attention when using crosswalks, although the victim was crossing away from a lighted intersection and marked crossing.
