Steps to take now to get a great lawn in the spring

The do-it-yourself home improvement experts Scott Krueger and Joe Autry from Home Depot  demonstrate the steps to take now to have a great lawn this spring.

The best way to control weeds is to have healthy, vigorously growing lawn grasses. Control early-sprouting weeds with a pre-emergent herbicide - corn gluten-based formulas are eco-friendly options. These herbicides inhibit seed germination so don't use them on newly seeded areas. Consider herbicides such as EcoSMART, available at The Home Depot.

They say fertilizing over the next few weeks is also important because crab grass will soon be popping up and its a lot easier to treat it now, rather than when grass is growing rapidly.
