Lawsuit filed by Special Olympics halts Louisville ordinance

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- A lawsuit filed by Special Olympics Kentucky against Louisville Metro Government is holding up a new city ordinance.

The non-profit filed the suit over a new law that limits the number of clothing collection bins in the city.

It also slaps a $300 annual fee on each one.

The CEO of Special Olympics Kentucky says that would cost the organization close to $20,000 a year.

The law is intended to go after less-reputable groups that don't maintain their bins.

It was supposed to go into effect today, but won't until further order from the court.
