LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Derby-winning trainer Rick Dutrow has filed a federal lawsuit, trying to overturn his 10-year ban from racing. Dutrow says he's been "irreparably harmed" by the New York racing board's ban.
Dutrow won the Derby and the Preakness in 2008 with Big Brown.
He was banned from racing after drug violations, but claims racing officials took "malicious actions" against him. He wants an order lifting the ban and $10 million in damages for lost earnings.
Dutrow tried to appeal the ban in state courts, but failed. New York racing officials declined to comment on the case.
