Jeffersonville must give notice before removing homeless camps

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The City of Jeffersonville will now have to give notices before they remove temporary homeless camps.

People filed complaints last November after the city took away personal items at a homeless camp near the Exit 0 overpass on I-65.

The city agreed to stop sweeping local homeless camps until they revisited its policy.

Jeffersonville will now have to post a 48-hour notice before it removes any shelter on public property. Also, if the items are moved, the city will now have to store them for 30 days, and let the owners know where they can find their belongings.
