New Albany police officer wants his job back

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- A New Albany police officer who was fired because of his fitness level is hoping to get his job back.

Phillip Houchin was fired in January after working with the department for eight years.

Police Chief Sherri Knight says he was terminated because of "an issue related to his fitness for duty."

Houchin filed for appeal with the New Albany Police Merit Commission on Feb. 14, and will remain on administrative while the police department investigates his case.
