Stephanie Decker trumpets new prosthetics legislation

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Henryville, Ind. mother who lost her legs protecting her children from the March 2, 2012 tornado, is making new strides.

People in Frankfort are applauding Stephanie Decker in a picture she posted on her Facebook page.

She captioned it, "We did it! It passed the House of Representatives!! Senate bound!"

She was referring to a bill requiring insurance companies to pay for the most advanced prosthetics for people who lose limbs.

She's been telling lawmakers how she's able to walk thanks to a similar law in Indiana, which allowed her to afford her high-tech prosthetic legs.
