LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---New information in the murder of a 17-year-old Clarksville teenager.
Clark County prosecutor Jeremy Mull tells WDRB that the teen was sexually assaulted before she was murdered.
On Saturday morning, 17-year-old Tara Willenborg was found dead in her bedroom.
The Clark County coroner says she died from Asphyxia, and that she had contusions on her neck. He was not able to release any other details.
Her father tells WDRB that her fiancé discovered her body when he returned home from work after 3:20 a.m.
Police have not indicated how she died.
Police arrested 49-year-old Richard Hooten for the crime.
They say he was picked up less than a mile away on Eastern Boulevard for outstanding probation and parole warrants.
According to Clark County court records, Hooten had an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.
The father of Tara Willenborg tells WDRB she was a former Jeffersonville High School cross-country athlete and had just received her GED two weeks ago.
He says she recently moved to the Cambridge Square apartments, and had just started a new job.
Hooten is behind bars at the Clark County Jail.
Prosecutor Jeremy Mull tells WDRB that they expect to file formal charges against Hooten on Monday, which may include sexual assault charges.
