Indiana toughens laws on cold medicines

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Indiana lawmakers are tackling even more restrictions on cold medicine.  There are already laws on how much cold medicine people can buy, and now they're considering even more.

The bill approved last month by the state Senate would allow the purchase of up to 61 grams a year of the cold meds often used to make meth.  That's about an eight-month total of the current law's monthly limit of 7.2 grams.

It also increases the criminal penalty for those who buy meds to give to someone who is making meth.
