'Act of Dog' artist and gallery promote animal rescue

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Using art to create social change within our nation's animal shelters is the motivation behind "An Act of Dog" - a project aimed at opening the public's eyes to what happens behind closed doors .

Photojournalist Sarah Haeberle takes us into the Louisville art studio of Mark Barone - as he completes his crusade to paint 5500 shelter dogs.

So far, Barone has painted more than 3300 portraits.  He has secured donations to finance his exhibit at Mellwood Arts Center through next year.  Barone would like Louisville to be its permanent home.
