U of L baseball team hosts SEC foe Alabama for a 3 game stand

The fifth-ranked Louisville baseball team hosts SEC foe Alabama for a three-game series starting on Friday at 3 p.m., ET at Jim Patterson Stadium. Coach Dan McDonnell explains why fan support is so important to the team's success.

The Cardinals and Crimson Tide will continue their series on Saturday at 1 p.m., before concluding the weekend on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free for all three games.

--- No. 5 ranked Louisville baseball team hosts SEC foe Alabama

--- Cardinals are led by one of the top pitching staffs in the nation ranking seventh in the NCAA in ERA (1.82).

--- Junior righty Jeff Thompson leads the UofL pitchers with a 3-0 record and a 1.02 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings.

--- Louisville leads the nation in stolen bases (50 in 62 attempts) and is paced by junior Adam Engel, who ranks 3rd nationally with 13.

--- The Cardinals' top hitter entering the week is sophomore shortstop Sutton Whiting, who is hitting .500 with a team-high 12 RBI.
