COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A defamation suit involving a gossip website and a former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader convicted of having sex with a teenage student will go to trial again this summer.
Former high school teacher Sarah Jones is seeking $11 million over a pair of 2009 posts on thedirty.com that said she had sex with every Bengals player and probably had two sexually transmitted diseases.
A January trial resulted in a hung jury. On Friday federal Judge William Bertelsman set a July 8 retrial date in Jones' lawsuit against the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based site and its operator, Nik Richie.
Richie's attorneys also want Bertelsman to reconsider his previous decision finding the Communications Decency Act was not meant to protect websites like his.
Jones pleaded guilty in October to having sex with a 17-year-old student.
