POLICE: Young boy wounded in early morning West Louisville shooting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Metrosafe has confirmed that around 1:15 a.m. an 11-year-old boy was shot in West Louisville.

It happened shortly after 1 a.m. outside a home on Larkwood Ave near South 38th street.

Police say the boy was hanging out with a group of friends when they started playing with a gun. The gun went off by accident, hitting the boy in his side.

The child was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital. He is expected to survive.

Police have not charged anyone.
