LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a mom's behavior in a local pediatrician office amounted to the criminal abuse of her 1-year-old son.
Police say that when 24-year-old Chelsie Immes recently brought her 1-year-old son to a local pediatrician office, she was observed "dragging him around," throwing him into a chair. She then allegedly picked him up by his wrists and dragged him across the floor, causing him to hit his head on a wooden bookshelf.
Immes allegedly swore at him, telling him, "I hope you fall out of the...chair."
Immes was allegedly trying to get him to sit back, but he kept leaning forward. She then allegedly told her son, "I hope you fall out of the chair and bust your head on the floor."
Police say a nurse noticed a small circle -- what she thought could be a bruise -- on the back of the boy's leg.
Child Protective Services was notified and -- according to police -- found bruises on the boy's back, rear end and thigh.
Immes allegedly admitted to spanking the 1-year-old with a belt.
She was arrested on Friday, shortly after 9 a.m., and charged with third-degree criminal abuse of a child, a misdemeanor.
