LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man is facing multiple theft charges after police say he stole merchandise from multiple Home Depot stores throughout the Metro Louisville area.
According to arrest reports, it started on Dec. 28, 2012, when 39-year-old Mark Slayton walked into the Home Depot on Preston Highway and took a Dewalt Took Kit without paying for it. Police say the incident was captured on surveillance video and store employees recognized Slayton because of "multiple prior similar incidents at Home Depot." Slayton drove away from the store before he could be apprehended.
The next incident took place on Dec. 30, 2012, when Slayton allegedly walked into the Home Depot on Westport Road and walked out with a Dewalt combo tool set and a Milwaukee combo tool set -- again without paying for the merchandise.
On Feb. 25, 2013, police say he took a Dewalt combo tool kit from the Home Depot on S. Hurstbourne Pkwy.
On Feb. 26, 2013, police say he tried to take merchandise from the Home Depot on Breckinridge Lane, but store employees confronted him. He allegedly dropped the merchandise and ran away.
Later the same day, Slayton allegedly went to the Home Depot on Preston Highway and tried to take merchandise, but he was again confronted by store employees, dropped the merchandise and ran away.
Police say he drove two different vehicles to the various Home Depot stores, but used the same license plate on each.
A warrant was issued for Slayton's arrest and he was taken into custody on Sunday evening. He faces multiple counts of theft, according to arrest reports.
