LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) -- Inspectors have finished their review of the Kennedy Bridge after a possible crack was discovered Wednesday.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the inspectors found a small crack in the bridge, but that it was smaller than was previously thought. A piece of steel was drilled out to remove the crack. The cabinet says that's a technique used routinely to keep existing cracks from spreading.
A possible crack was first identified in a consultant report last fall and obtained by WDRB News. The discovery followed an $18 million repair to redeck and resurface the I-65 bridge that carries traffic over the Ohio River between Kentucky and Indiana.
