NW Ind. judge orders ex-police officer held

Posted: Updated:

VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) -- A northwest Indiana judge has ordered a former Hobart police officer who is married to the Porter County Court commissioner and charged with felony counts of intimidation and criminal recklessness held without bond until the Indiana Supreme Court appoints a special judge.

The Times of Munster reports Porter County Superior Judge Roger Bradford ruled Friday that no county judge could hear the case against Eric Moser because of his wife's job. The 41-year-old Eric Moser is accused of firing a shotgun out the door as police officers approached his home Wednesday and making a threat against an officer.

Deputy Prosecutor Trista Hudson says her office will request a special prosecutor be appointed after the judge is appointed so the two can be from the same area.
