Posted: Updated:

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) -- Hundreds of elementary school students celebrate 20 years of making music.

The Louisville Leopard Percussionists is made up of about 300 kids. They played their "Big Gig" Saturday to mark 20 years of playing.

The group was founded in 1993, and teaches jazz by ear, telling kids to feel the music before they read it.

The Leopards have grown from a small group over the past 20 years.

"It started affiliated as an after school group with a JCPS school at King Elementary, and then they broke away from JCPS and now its a completely separate after school activity for the kids," said Caroline Taylor, Louisville Leopards business manager.

The Louisville Leopards have performed at national and international jazz conferences.
