Family of fatal shooting victim speaks out

LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB) -- His family says his last words were "don't let me die."

Now police want to know who dropped off Christopher "Buddy" Jones at a Louisville hospital after he was shot.

Police are looking for a man and woman they say quickly left after dropping the victim off at Kosair Children's Hospital around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

A lot of questions have surfaced and the victim's family tells WDRB they won't rest until they get answers.

"I don't know who you are but you let my nephew die and if you're Buddy's friend, you'll talk to police and let them know what happened," said Buddy's aunt Tammy Arnold.

Friends tell WDRB Buddy had just celebrated his 25th birthday on Monday.

"That boy wasn't ready to die. That's all I can say. He wasn't ready to die," said Cody Abney.

Buddy's family is still in shock over the news of his death. They're grieving together inside their home in Fairdale where Buddy grew up.

"He ran around here in little red boots. I remember when he was little. He'd run around this circle, run around and run around," said Tammy Arnold.

Memories like that are all they have left of Buddy.

"I wish that the person who dropped him off would talk to somebody and let us know what happened because you don't drop somebody off at the door and leave if it's an accident," Tammy Arnold told WDRB.

Buddy's friends and family say they'll work to keep his memory alive but they won't be satisfied until they know the truth.
