INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich is continuing a cherished tradition of governors ripping on neighboring states.
Kasich knocked Indiana last week in a speech before Ohio Republicans. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Kasich's jabs last week as part of an effort to deflect criticism of his plan to expand Medicaid.
The knock caused a stir in Indiana. But governors across the nation love to get in shots on the competition. Maryland's Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley and Virginia's Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell traded blows throughout the 2012 campaign season.
And former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels built a cottage industry ripping on Illinois. In 2011, he compared Illinois to a dysfunctional neighbor like "The Simpsons" and later joked Indiana should build an "Illinois governors wing" at the federal prison in Terre Haute.
