More students could be eligible for Indiana's private schools

Posted: Updated:

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) -- More students could soon be eligible for Indiana's private school voucher program.

A bill to expand the program will go before state senators this week. The proposal would let kindergartners and some other students get vouchers right away.

Right now, those students have to spend a year in public school first. Some senators are said to be wary of making exceptions.

Other lawmakers say the expansion won't cost very much because private schools have limits to how many students they can accept.
