One person dead after accident on Greenbelt Highway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person died and two others were injured in an accident on Greenbelt Highway Monday afternoon.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell, the accident took place at approximately 1 p.m. on Greenbelt Highway, near Raggard Road.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicates that a tan Buick was attempting to make a left turn from southbound Greenbelt Highway to eastbound Raggard Road, when it was struck by a Kia van that was traveling northbound on Greenbelt Highway.

The passenger in the Buick was taken to University Hospital where the individual died.

The drivers of both vehicles were also taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Louisville Metro Police traffic unit is investigating.
