Hundreds of eggs donated to a local food bank

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A local food bank received a much needed donation right before Easter.

Almost 2900 dozen eggs were donated to the Dare To Care Food Bank.

Rose Acre Farms dropped off the donation to the food bank. Officials with the third generation family business say it's thrilled to be able to make the donation so close to Easter.

The eggs will now be distributed between just over 300 partner agencies in our community.

"What's so exciting about these eggs being here is that with one in six in our community struggling with hunger this will provide some awesome protein for those people in need," said Dare to Care's Jackie Keating.

Dare to care officials also say fresh eggs are among the most needed items at food assistance organizations.
